The Honest Numbers

Panigale V4 S — the real cost of the halo. This is the expensive one to own and to run, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.
Most dealers bury the running costs on a superbike. We'll do the opposite: here's every dollar, including the ones that aren't small. If the number changes your mind, better to know now than at the first service.

1 · What it costs to ride away

Panigale V4 S (Ducati Red) MSRP$38,295
Freight & PDI$1,295
Alberta GST (5%) — no PST$1,979.50
Out the door*$41,569.50
*Before licensing & registration.

2 · Financing (current June program)

Rate1.99% APR
Term36 months
Amount financed ($39,590, before tax)~$1,134/mo
Total interest over the term~$1,234
Longer terms available at slightly higher rates for a lower monthly — ask us. 0–25% down depending on credit. On approved credit through Ducati Financial Services; not everyone qualifies for the advertised rate.

3 · Five years of service (the honest part)

Alberta's season is ~6,000 km a year, so five years is roughly 30,000 km. Unlike our naked bikes, this one has a Desmodromic V4 — and that service is real:

Oil & filter service (every 15,000 km / yr)~3 services
Desmo valve service (every 30,000 km)1 service
At ~30,000 km you'll hit one Desmodromic valve service, roughly $1,500–$2,500. This is the cost the forums warn you about — and on the V4, it's real. We'd rather you see it here than be surprised by it.
Oil services — est. 3 × ~$350~$1,050
Desmo valve service — est.~$2,000
Tires — ridden hard, est. ~$2,100~$2,100
5-yr upkeep (ex. fuel & insurance)~$5,150
Labour, Desmo-service, and tire figures are typical Alberta dealer estimates and depend on how hard you ride; the intervals are Ducati's official numbers. Want it in writing for your riding? That's exactly what we'll send.
~$86/month
What it honestly costs to keep the V4 S on the road (upkeep only, ex. fuel & insurance), averaged over five years.

4 · Why people pay it anyway

209 hp, a counter-rotating crank that makes 187 kg steer like a bike 20 kg lighter, MotoGP-derived aero, and a Desmosedici Stradale engine. It's the closest thing to a MotoGP bike you can put a plate on. Nobody buys it to save money — and the people who own one tell us they'd do it again.

5 · What we won't pretend to know

Insurance. On a 209 hp superbike it's the big variable, and it swings hard by age, history, and city. Anyone quoting one number is guessing — get a real quote from your broker first.

Fuel. Real-world ~7 L/100km, premium. Not where the money goes on this bike.
